Choosing the Right Mattress for a Better Sleep

Having sleepless nights lately? Do you know that sleeping on the right mattress can help minimize this problem and get a good night sleep? Well, ideally a mattress that reduces the pressure points on your body will help you get a better night’s sleep and wake up feeling rested and refreshed. On the other hand, sleeping on the wrong mattress could cause sleeplessness, back pain, and overall aches and pains.

When choosing the right mattress, it is important to keep in mind that the ideal mattress is different for each person. There’s no single type of mattress that works perfectly for all people, and there’s no right mattress for back problems either. Also, there’s no single sleeping position regarded to be best for everyone. This is because of some factors, such as:

- There are lots of causes of back problems. Different back problems respond to specific types of beds, sleep positions, and mattresses.
- The type of mattress that’s best for a particular person is really a matter of personal preference. What actually works well for one person may not work well for another.
- There is very limited scientific study on mattresses and back pain, and results from the studies are also inconclusive.

Generally, the causes of back pain is quite complex. It’s also difficult to find out if a person’s mattress has a role in reducing the pain or making it worse. However, don’t forget that mattresses have a certain lifespan. If you keep your mattress too long, the foam and all the other materials inside it will start to break down, thus compromising its ability to support your body. So, it is best that you keep your mattress no more than ten years. After that, it’s time for you to buy a new mattress again.
